With an attractive and practical single-level layout, Villa Kalua’s three suites are designed around the lushly landscaped pool and deck area. Each air conditioned and fan-cooled bedroom features a simple timber bed base with intricately carved wooden headboards or intriguing paintings overhead. To provide maximum flexibility, beds can be configured as kings or twins. The interior of each joglo pavilion creates depth with double-height vaulted ceilings and hand-carved beams. Timber flooring, luscious pool and garden views through floor-to-ceiling windows, hand-hammered brass accessories and lighting, wraparound covered patio space and pieces of brightly coloured pop art honour the traditions of the archipelago and create a contemporary museum-like ambiance at the same time.
Each bathroom is like a mini spa sanctuary, designed to create a sultry and calming atmosphere with semi-open-air garden areas. The master ensuite is the most indulgent with its own private plunge pool, perfect for a private dip before getting your beauty sleep. Rooms also feature generous walk-in wardrobes, pre-stocked mini refrigerators, personal safes, and unique antique furnishings.
The living pavilion is a great place to take complimentary afternoon tea, while the semi open-air kitchen and dining pavilion, with integrated TV lounge (equipped with 46-inch flat-screen television with international channels, DVD player and a decent selection of recent films), define the simplicity of Bali tropical chic. The minimalist, yet fully stocked, kitchen caters to guests who love to cook, with a generous wine refrigerator; full size oven, multi-burner stove and all the accoutrements of your kitchen back home. An eight-person dining table is flanked by comfortable rattan cocoon chairs and offers exquisite views of the garden and pool – around which sun loungers are shaded by brightly coloured Balinese umbrellas.
