CaSabama Villas are a new development of 5 freehold houses designed by vx3d. Set within a gated community, the site is 40 minutes away from the airport and is located on the coast northeast of Sanur, along the black sand beaches of Saba. Ubud is a mere 20-minute drive away. Inspired by traditional Balinese village clusters, the design of each house has elements derived from local architecture. Unifying key features are the undulating pitched roofs using traditional sirap ulin (ironwood shingles), airbrick walls to encourage natural ventilation, and deep overhangs to provide shade.
The material palette ranges from natural stone and marble to colored cement tiles and timbers. Conceived as a group of 5 interacting yet individual units, the composition of each house is an exercise in the spatial organization of solids and voids, taking into account the terrain and programmatic flow of each house. All houses are composed to offer sea views to the southeast and Gunung Agung to the northwest.
Casabama Villa Panjang is part of casabama Villas. The length of the plot of Rumah Panjang (Long House) is about 50m hence its name. Arranged linearly are the breakfast bar, dining room, and double reception area, all open to a garden on one side and a stone garden on the other. In the front are the pool and lawn. At the far end is the Master suite with its own private garden. Down the corridor by the master suite is a massage room and guest shower room. Up the stairs is the den that looks out onto Gunung Agung. A corridor flanked by airbricks leads to 3 guest bedrooms, all with garden or sea views.
